Lucy Starkey
Dancer
Lucy is a Lancashire-born freelance dancer, performer, and choreographer, performing in a variety of settings with companies and artists across the UK. Currently she is touring works by @cassonandfriends and @madebykg
Lucy is a core collaborator with About Time Dance Company and is delighted to be a cast member in five productions with the company since joining the team in 2016.
2020 saw Lucy join forces with UCLan and Dr Joanne Pledger, further work is planned following the success of Into Our Skies: Space in Schools, watch this space!
Lucy gained her degree from London Contemporary Dance School in 2009 and toured with VERVE at Northern School of Contemporary Dance in 2010.
Aimee Williamson
Dancer
Aimee is a Lancashire born dancer. After training with The Royal Ballet School and Rambert School of Ballet and Contemporary Dance, she performed with Rambert Dance Company at In Transit Festival, London. She then went on to tour nationally and internationally with Ballet Cymru in their productions of Giselle, Beauty and the Beast, Little Red Riding Hood and the Three Pigs, and The Tempest. It was here she collaborated with Cerys Matthews in the production TIR. Recently she has been working on various projects with Androna Dance Theatre, Born & Bred Dance Theatre, and Turnaround Dance Theatre, and currently is working with AbouTime Dance company. Her repertoire so far includes Cotton, and Walking Watling Street, which she has enjoyed performing across the region.
Ellen Turner
Dancer
Ellen Turner is a Lancashire born and based performer on this project and will co-choreograph and perform in the work. After training at The Northern School of Contemporary Dance, Ellen has had a colourful dance career working with Ludus Dance Company, Tmesis Theatre, Yael Flexer, TC Howard, Tim Casson, Ben Wright, Gary Clarke, and Nigel Charnock to name a few. In 2012 she won The Turn prize of choreographic achievement for her solo ‘Car-Door Moment.’ She continually develops her choreographic interests and in 2014, Ellen formed TurnAround Dance Theatre. Repertoire includes: ‘Trudy’, ‘Love Life’ and also, arts funded shows: ‘Mirrored Minds’ and ‘The Thief, The Fox and The Phoenix’ which is an outdoor, family friendly circus and dance theatre show.
Hannah Dial
Dancer
Hannah Dial is a Lancashire-based dance artist with performance credits that span contemporary and commercial dance industries.
An original cast member of Cathy Waller Company, Hannah performed in ‘Tempo’ and ‘Two Plus One’ at venues including Stockton International Riverside Festival, West End Live, Stratford Circus, Peacock Theatre, Gone in Twenty Minutes Festival, and the National Theatre. Her commercial credits include Nintendo, Sky, Activision, The Clothes Show Live, FreeStyle Games, and The Liverpool Wedding Show.
Hannah strongly believes in accessibility in the arts; she sees performance in non-traditional settings as an interesting and powerful way to reach audiences, especially those who may not think art is ‘for them’. She is thrilled to work with About Time Dance Company and looks forward to bringing the story of Dick, Kerr Ladies F.C. to more people.
Maya Marsh
Dancer
Maya is a Dancer from Manchester who recently graduated from the Northern School of Contemporary Dance. Although she’s the only member of her family to choose dance over football training growing up, she’s excited to step into the world through an artistic lens and is looking forward to sharing the incredible story of the Dick Kerr Ladies. Maya joined the company in 2021 for the production of ‘Quite Unfit for Females’
Rebecca Callow
Dancer
Rebecca is a dance artist based in Manchester. She is inspired by the natural world and by individuals’ stories and experiences in it. Since completing her MA with Emergence Dance Company in 2019, Rebecca has worked with Coalesce Dance Theatre, Ellen Hathaway Dance Company and Kapow Dance and is very excited to be joining About Time Dance Company as a dancer for ‘Quite Unfit for Females’
Louise Gibbons
Dancer
Louise Gibbons is a Freelance Dance Artist based in the NW, having graduated from MMUC in 2010. She is a skilled performer and facilitator of dance in diverse & non-traditional settings. She has also created an interactive solo work for intergenerational audiences at the beginning of 2020.
“I’m so excited to be working with Jenny again on this new project about the Dick Kerr Ladies. It’s such a surprising and fascinating story which more people should know about – especially young women and girls! I feel privileged to play a part in this exciting journey.”
Louise joined the company in 2018 in the cast of ‘Longways/Crosswise’ and is now also a performer in ‘Quite Unfit for Females’.
Helen Gould
Project manager
Helen is a Lancashire based Dance Artist and Co-Director of LPM Dance Theatre. Helen is delighted to be working with About Time Dance Company on various projects. She has performed in Cotton with her new baby and she will join us in our new work Longways and Crosswise. She also regularly project manages our work.
In 2011, with a joint ambition to develop new dance experiences in the North West, she established LPM Dance Theatre with George Adams. The company now has a track record of delivering a widely varied programme of participation and performance work for a diverse range of settings. The company frequently work in collaboration with other artists and regional organisations, offering project management, fundraising support and mentoring.
Lee Affen
Musician/Sound designer
Lee Affen is a composer, music producer and sound designer from Manchester, now based in Sheffield. His passion for music has led him to work in bands, write for singers and compose for theatre, film and dance. He has worked with About Time Dance company on their productions of Cotton, Gone Fishin’, Walking Watling Street and Longways and Crosswise. Lee’s ultimate passion is creating sound with dancers in the same space.
Alongside this, Lee also delivers music workshops and has worked on community based arts events and festivals around the UK.
Katie Duxbury
Costume designer and maker
Katie Duxbury graduated from Nottingham Trent University in 2009 with a degree in Theatre Design. Since then she has worked in wardrobe departments across the country, in roles ranging from Costume Maker and Dresser to Wardrobe Supervisor. She is now based in Lancaster, where she works regularly as Wardrobe Deputy for the Dukes Theatre.
Katie loves to design whenever possible, and is constantly constructing her own range of wearable creations, as well as getting involved in arts projects outside of the theatre. She aspires to celebrate the joy and beauty of costume, using colour and texture to develop each item of clothing as a unique work of art.
Jonny Randall
Filmmaker
Jonny Randall is a Cumbrian freelance artist working with film and performance whose practice aims to capture the authentic stories of people and places. Much of his documentary film work is rooted in community projects and capturing the beauty of ordinary lives.
Recent projects have included work for Mirador, the Dukes, Brewery Arts Centre and Headlong Theatre. Creating a trailer and documentary for About Time’s ‘Cotton’ was a joyful highlight of 2017 and he can’t wait to be involved again with the upcoming ‘Gone Fishing’.
Ellen Jeffrey
Choreographer
Ellen is a dance artist and researcher based in Lancaster, UK. A trained choreologist, she is currently studying for an AHRC-funded PhD in site-specific dance practice at Lancaster University. Having graduated from Trinity Laban Conservatoire, London (BA Dance Theatre) and University of the Arts, Helsinki (MA in Live Art and Performance Studies) she has worked for dance scholar Dr Valerie Preston-Dunlop and performed on projects with SAP Dance, LPM Dance Theatre and Summit Dance Theatre, as well as choreographing and performing her own works across Finland and the United Kingdom. She is an Associate Lecturer at Lancaster University and teaches release technique at Ludus Dance, Lancaster.
Ellen is very excited to be co-choreographing Longways & Crosswise with About Time Dance Company, and to be collaborating with such wonderful, talented artists from the North West!
