Walking Watling Street is a brand new commission by The Brewery Arts Centre in Kendal and Lakes Alive Festival.

Walking Watling Street explores the 1913 NUWSS pilgrimage in particular the North Western Route from Carlisle to London. The choreography explores the determination, commitment and devotion to the cause that the female suffragists demonstrated through tirelessly walking over 350 miles, in what was an entirely peaceful protest.

This story deserves wider recognition, at is a momentous part of our forgotten history. The new work will premiere in Kendal at Lakes Alive Festival on September 8th and 9th, exact times and locations will be released soon.
